We were absolutely delighted to host Peter Thompson, CEO of the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA), Department of Health and Social Care, for an incredible guest speaker session!

Peter joined us to speak with our Year 12 students and Year 10 Science students, sharing invaluable insights from his varied and prestigious career in public policy and regulation.

✨ Career Highlights Shared:

👍 The HFEA: Leading the UK regulator of fertility services (like IVF) and human embryo research, navigating some of today’s most complex public policy areas.
👍 Civil Service Impact: Working across the Ministry of Justice and the Cabinet Office on constitutional reform and EU justice.
👍 Landmark Legislation: Guiding the Gender Recognition Act 2005 through Parliament—a historic piece of social reform.
👍 Higher Education: Serving as a member of the Council of Queen Mary University of London.

A massive thank you to Peter for taking the time to inspire our students and offer a peek behind the curtain of high-level civil service and scientific regulation.

On Wednesday, our Year 7 and 8 team enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of cricket competing in the U15 competition!

The team showed great determination and resilience across all their matches, securing a well-deserved victory and narrowly missing out in others. Every game was played with enthusiasm, commitment, and excellent sportsmanship.

There were some outstanding bowling performances, with students consistently putting pressure on the opposition, while strong teamwork and communication in the field created great opportunities throughout.

With the bat, the team demonstrated maturity and tactical awareness, carefully building innings and adapting to each game situation.

A brilliant effort from everyone involved and plenty of positives to take forward — well done, team! 👏🏏

Research shows that completing homework regularly and to a high standard has a significant impact on student progress. Our approach focuses on short, purposeful tasks that link directly to classroom learning and help students prepare for future exams and beyond.

🤝 A true partnership between school and home
We believe success comes from working together:

  • Students build positive study routines
  • School provides high-quality tasks and support
  • Parents help encourage consistency and organisation

📱 Stay connected with your child’s learning
Parents can:

  • Use Satchel:One to track homework, deadlines, and completion
  • Receive updates via Google Classroom, Sparx, and other platforms to stay fully informed about progress

🎓 Need extra support? We’ve got it covered
Our weekly Saturday School is available for students who want additional help completing homework in a supportive environment — with guidance from staff and our HIVE Sixth Form students.
