Curriculum

Our Curriculum is one which is broad and balanced and offers students a wide variety of experiences. We use a range of different teaching strategies, including individual thinking and collaborative skills, as well as investigating, experimenting and communicating to a variety of different audiences.

There is a clear focus upon the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science along with ensuring students develop skills in Languages, Art and Design, the Humanities, Technology and PE. New and exciting subjects not previously studied at Primary School are also introduced.

Before any student arrives at Countesthorpe Academy from their primary school, we take account of information from the feeder school as well as the Key Stage 2 results and use this information to ensure the needs of all students are met.

Our Key Stage 3 curriculum supports the core curriculum at Key Stage 4, with greater breadth and depth in the GCSE option subjects available.

Students build upon their experiences from the early years at the Academy and their curriculum is personalised at Key Stage 4 where students study a range of GCSE and vocational qualifications, dependent on their aptitudes and interests.
