Esports at Countesthorpe Academy has been developed by Emily Coulson who, as well as being a Lead Practitioner across the LiFE Trust, is a Cloud 9 associate content creator having been famously mistaken for gaming legend Luka "Perkz" Perković:

"We have developed this course at Countesthorpe Academy as esports is a rapidly growing industry with multiple job roles available across the world; this global industry generates more money than the Hollywood film industry!

Countesthorpe Academy is dedicated to future proofing our students’ ability to apply for emerging job roles in areas that they are interested in. Our state-of-the-art esports arena will be an inspirational space for students to learn in."

LiFE Multi Academy Trust CEO Chris Parkinson echoes these thoughts as Countesthorpe Academy’s curriculum looks to future:

“LiFE MAT is very excited about the innovation of introducing a technical award in esports at Countesthorpe Academy. LiFE schools are always looking to the future to ensure that we provide a curriculum which has global currency and young people feel relates to their interests and aspirations; esports certainly tick this box. The global revenue of esports is now valued at £1.1 billion and set to rise exponentially. Our students will have an unparalleled opportunity to be part of that journey by combining traditional knowledge and skills with that which is very contemporary and forward looking.”

Esports BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate is equivalent in size to one A Level and is to be taken alongside other Level 3 vocational qualifications and/or A Levels as part of a two year, full-time study programme at Countesthorpe Academy.
