The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award, giving millions of 14 to 24-year-olds the opportunity to be the very best they can be.

It is a lively and well attended extra-curricular activity at Countesthorpe Leysland Community College.

We encourage as many students to get involved to enhance their skills in a variety of disciplines. These skills help our students achieve different levels of the award; Bronze, Silver, or Gold.

Students taking part complete activities in a the following areas:

  • Volunteering
  • Physical
  • Skills
  • Expedition
  • Residential (for Gold DofE participants only)

Expeditions take place throughout the year and we ask that groups plan their routes for expeditions between campsites locally. Our expeditions in recent times include trips to including The Peak District, The Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia. Additionally, Gold Award students have trained in Wales ahead of expeditions at Dartmoor, Yorkshire and Northumberland.

If you would like to get involved in this amazing extra-curricular activity please see Mrs J. MacDonald-Brown in the Pastoral Office.
