Reintroduction of PE kit for PE Lessons

Since the start of term, students have been required to bring a change of footwear only for PE whist we established new routines and systems. We know this has been far from ideal and thank you for your patience and support over the last few weeks.  I am pleased to say that we are now in a position to reintroduce PE kit into lessons. This letter outlines the changes that will be put in place in the next few weeks within both the PE and Dance department.

In line with Department for Education guidance, the current recommendation is that students are able to change into PE kit, as long as they are within their bubble and control measures are put in place. Students will therefore be able to return to wearing PE kit for their PE lessons.

It is essential that the PE kit worn is the  school PE kit and nothing else. A reminder that our school kit is :-

Boys  Girls
Countesthorpe Academy logo t-shirt  Countesthorpe Academy logo t-shirt
Countesthorpe Academy logo zip up jumper  Countesthorpe Academy logo zip up  jumper
Countesthorpe Academy logo shorts  Countesthorpe Academy logo shorts
Countesthorpe Academy logo tracksuit bottoms  Navy/Black leggings
Navy/Black tracksuit bottoms/shorts

If students decide to bring another top or jumper for PE then they will not be allowed to change for their lesson and will need to complete the lesson in their uniform. Incorrect kit means that the class teacher will make contact home and we will try and support you in getting the correct kit for your child.

Please ensure that your child has the correct kit for their PE lessons, this includes a change of footwear. As we are coming into the winter months, PE will still be taught outside, so PE jumpers need to be worn. Coats and hooded tops are forbidden for PE lessons. If you feel that your child needs another layer, they are able to wear a thermal long sleeve top under their PE t-shirt to keep them warm in the lesson.

Students in Years 7,8 &9 will meet their teacher on the ball courts near the Music block to be registered before being escorted to the changing rooms Students in Years 10&11 need to go straight to the changing rooms where they will be met by their teacher

Students will still be expected to clean their hands before entering the PE changing rooms and when they leave, to minimise the risk within the changing room area. Students will need to change with their face masks/coverings on which they will remove just before they leave for their lesson. Changing rooms are wiped down before and after the lesson by the PE staff to ensure no cross-contamination between bubbles is made. PE changing room doors will remain propped open while students enter and change and then securely locked shut once students have left for their lesson to ensure the safety of valuables.

To allow us to safely implement students getting changed, we are staggering the reintroduction of PE kit by year group. Please ensure your child knows when they will need their kit for their PE lessons by referring to the table below:

Year   Date to begin changing into PE Kit.
7  24th September
8  25th September
9  28th September
10  29th September
11  30th September

Please ensure your child brings their kit for PE from the date that corresponds to their year group. From this date each year group will be expected to change for PE and to change into the school PE kit.

Dance and option PE students will continue to change as they have been doing to allow them to fulfill the needs of the course. Dance students have their own designated space within the changing rooms to change and enter the changing rooms first before PE students enter. This means students will not come in contact with any other bubble. Some dance/option PE lessons will be at Leysland which will be clear on students’ timetables. Students will still line up on the ball courts, where their teacher will then escort them safely to and from the Leysland building via the secure path.

The PE timetable will be shared with students and displayed within the PE department so students know where their lesson will take place. If we have bad weather, lessons will be moved to either the Leysland site or in a classroom for a theory-based lesson. Students will be escorted by their class teacher and informed by the PE department of the arrangements on the same morning via email to their tutor.

If you have any queries regarding PE, please do not hesitate to contact me via email, nrose@clcc.college.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs N Rose

Head of PE
