Letter from Mrs C. Aitcheson – 27th March 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

Can I start by thanking you for all the support you have given us during this first week of the College closure. This is a period of unchartered territory for us all as we find new and different ways of working. This is also being done at a time where we know there will be added challenges at home. We very much appreciate all you are doing during these difficult times.

Our students have risen to the challenge and are adapting well to working at home and have completed some of the most amazing work this week. We are really proud of what has been achieved!

We want to be able to keep you regularly updated with news and information from the College during this time and for you to know that if you need any help or support, that we are here for you.

Staff at the college have been working hard to make sure we have in place the right systems to be able to offer support during the closure. To help with this we have:-

  1. Asked form tutors to send every student an email in the first instance. Could you please ask your child to check they have received this email and respond to their tutor. It is really important they do this.
  2. Created a new dedicated area of our college website which has all the information you need to know (https://www.clcc.college/curriculum/school-closure-working-at-home/)
  3. Set up ways that staff and students can communicate easily
  4. Developed the use of Show My Homework so that we can share announcements to students as well as it being a place students go to get their work.
  5. Added lessons and resources on Careers and Personal Development on topics which are particularly relevant to the current situation.

We appreciate that some students might be finding it difficult to complete all the set work in the given time. If this is the case, please tell them not to worry. They should email their teacher and let them know this. Their teacher will be there to help them work through this and will reassure them about what they need to do.

Over the next few weeks, we hope to be able to regularly share with you some of the great work that is being done at home and we also hope to produce a regular edition of our College Magazine.

Best wishes to you and all you families. We are here to help, please get in touch if you need to.

Stay safe

Mrs C. Aitcheson
