Year 13 Mock Examination Results

Dear Parent/Carer,

Year 13 Mock Examination Results

Your son/daughter has taken home a copy of their mock examination results that took place in November. We have also published on the MyEd app their latest effort and currently working at grades so you can see how they are progressing against targets. We also hope to see you at the Year13 Parents’ Evening, on January 10th 2019, which is a great opportunity to discuss results and next steps.

We have colour coded the results sheets that students receive so it is very clear what the results mean. Students with gold sheets have exceeded expectations and their efforts are superb, silver sheets mean they are on track and should continue working hard. Whilst bronze indicates that they are working well but more work needs to be done to achieve targets and red signposts that they are below where they should be at this point and we are looking for rapid improvements to be made. Students received results in envelopes and were not obliged to open them publicly.

The Christmas holiday now gives students a time for reflection on how well they have done in the mocks and what they hope to achieve by the end of Year 13. Mock examinations are treated very seriously and give the best insight into how well students have engaged with their A-Level courses and where there is further work to be done. We encourage parents to talk through the results at home, just as subject teachers will be doing at school to find improvements.

Many Year 13 lessons that remain this year will involve students reflecting on their mock exam papers, completing corrections (and in some cases redoing the paper). Teachers will be setting targets, diagnosing what went well and what could be improved, providing appropriate subject therapy and opportunities to be retested.

Can I also take this opportunity to remind you of two free apps we have to support your child at the College. My Ed where we share with you behaviour, attendance and progress information and Show My Homework so you can see what work is being set and when it is due. Details of how to access My Ed are overleaf.

We hope you find the information on Year 13 progress useful and look forward to seeing you atParents’ Evening on 10th January 2019.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. C. Aitcheson

Principal
