Year 11 Parents: History Opportunities

We have several exciting opportunities for your son / daughter to further develop their historical knowledge and exam skills further during this year (2018/19). We appreciate that this is a vital year and we believe that these opportunities will enhance Year 11 students understanding of the course they are studying.

Below is a list of the opportunities that we are able to offer. Please be aware that these are voluntary, not compulsory as many carry additional costs.

  • After school drop in sessions (3:10 – 4:00 pm). These will take place every Thursday with the focus on developing exam skills. A list for each half term will be put up in the History pod and students are encouraged to attend the ones that are most relevant to their needs.
  • Hitler on Trial: A chance for an in-depth recap of the Weimar and Nazi Germany topic, with support from examiners, this will take place on 1stFebruary 2019. More information will be provided shortly.
  • Whitechapel and Jack the Ripper London trip: This will be on 24thJanuary 2019. A detailed letter will be sent out.
  • Revision guides. During the year students will be given the opportunity to buy the following revision guides
    • Crime and Punishment
    • Weimar and Nazi Germany
    • Early Elizabethan England
    • Superpower Relations and the Cold War

For some students there will also be the opportunity to buy Target 5 and Target 9 revision guides that provided targeted advice for students looking to achieve those grades.

  • PiXL History App. This will be set up by half term. Students can use the following log in details to access it
