Letter from Mrs Aitcheson – July 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

As this academic year draws to a close, we have so much to celebrate! Our students this year really have been the ‘best they can be’ in every way possible.  As we have returned to a more normal world and have once again been able to run activities and events, our students have made the most of all that has been on offer.

Our core values or Respect, Resilience and Success sit at the heart of all that we do, and our students have shown this in many ways throughout the year. Alongside the extremely hard work in the classroom, and for some students, preparing for external exams for the first time in three years, our most recent Academy Magazine highlights just a few of these. The contributions students have made to both the school and local community through charity and fund-raising events alongside marking key events through the year such as Remembrance Day, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and support for Ukrainian refugees. We are saying farewell to the staff below at the end of this academic year. We would like to say a huge thank you for the commitment and hard work from all  these staff during their time with us and to wish them every success on the next stage of their lives.

Lesson expectations for the start of next year

Respect –We will be working with students to make sure there is consistency in relation to presentation and pride shown in their work to support their learning and teacher feedback.

Resilience –next year we will be providing additional opportunities for subject-specific reading, extended writing, learning new vocabulary and oracy activities. Students will be supported to develop resilience and to show they are ‘the best that they can be’.

Success – your child will be supported to become the very best reader. Through a weekly tutor time activity with their form tutor, lesson opportunities and reading intervention sessions, your child will continue to be stretched and challenged to focus on reading as a key skill.

Information regarding uniform expectations has already been sent out but can also be found here (insert uniform letter).

OFSTED visit

A huge thank you for your support during our recent OFSTED inspection. The responses and comments from the parent survey were overwhelmingly positive and really helped to support us in being able to share our journey of improvement. The full report will not be published until after the summer break when we look forward to sharing it with you.

Finally, on behalf of all the staff at Countesthorpe Academy, I would like to say a huge thank you for your continued support and help this year.

I hope you all have a well earned and restful summer break and we look forward to another exciting year next year,

Mrs C. Aitcheson
