Dear Parents and Students of Year 12,
Following the government’s announcement that schools are to close and exams for A-Levels and BTEC examinations will not be happening this summer I wanted to write to you to re-assure you that your Sixth Form at CLCC, will ensure that the hard work you have put in so far will be recognised. Whatever decisions are made over the next few weeks, we will continue to support you, ensure that you are still able to achieve your potential and be recognised for the qualities we have seen in you.
In the meantime, it is vital that any work continues to be done to the best of your abilities, bearing in mind the restrictions we are under, as you need to continue with your learning to minimise any impact to your studies into next year. I am certain that your end of course assessments next year will be reflective of some inevitable dips in learning so please do not be overly concerned about this. To that end, please help us by showing us the resilience and intelligence I know you have by completing work to the best of your ability and within the deadlines set by teachers. This will be done, as per our contingency planning, through Show My Homework. We need to assume that the work that you continue to do will form part of your assessment.
A timetable of when you should expect to see this work is shown below. All work will be available by 9am on the day of the timetabled session and be completed and returned, either via Show My Homework or email as directed by your teacher, by 4pm the same day.

Our strength as a school, and in particular our Sixth Form, has always been in our relationships and how we look after each other. That community is still present even though our connections are now via the internet. I am proud to have you as part of our community and I know the teachers and staff I work alongside will still be doing their very best to help you move forward in life. Whatever happens next, we will ensure you are supported and cared for.
Use online methods to contact Sixth Form and your teachers and we will keep in touch with you.
Please rest assured that this will ultimately not hold you back in life. You will not be forgotten. Exams are one part of your education; however resilience, character and kindness are equally essential and I know that you will rise to this challenge and return even more amazing people than you are today.
You have an important part to play at the moment:
*Please stay home and follow the government advice.
*RING YOUR OLD PEOPLE OFTEN and write them a letter.
*Keep in touch with friends but be kind on line ALWAYS.
*Stay active. Walk the dog (alone), jog or try a you tube workout everyday.
*Stay healthy by sleeping well, eating simple foods and sitting in the garden.
*Learn some life skills like cooking, gardening and washing. Help out and be part of your home team.
*Read as much as you can! It will transport you to new places.
*Most importantly for some if something is wrong or you are unsafe, please phone childline (0800 1111) or contact responsible adults. Use online sources such as Kooth or Young Minds.
You remain our priority and we will continue to work tirelessly with you and on your behalf. Please be patient and keep working to fill those gaps in your academic knowledge. Keep yourself active and, when we are allowed, we will welcome you back into what will be our new Sixth Form facility to continue our journey together.
It continues to be our pleasure and privilege working with you.
Mrs Challinor and Mrs Aitcheson
