A group of enthusiastic Year 10 students gathered in the library for a Narrative Writing Workshop led by Alyssia, an external facilitator from the Creative Learning Services in County Hall, Leicester. 📚

The workshop focused on crafting compelling story openings, with Alyssia demonstrating various techniques to captivate readers from the very first sentence. 👀

To spark their creativity and provide unique inspiration for their stories, the students were provided with random quirky artefacts, such as old keys, peculiar trinkets and even a decapitated doll’s head! 🗝️

This valuable session aimed to equip the students with essential skills for their upcoming assessments next year, ensuring they can confidently create engaging narratives from the very first sentence. ✍🏻

It’s a small gesture with a big message: we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re proud of you. 💙💛

Countesthorpe Academy is proud to celebrate the achievements of our 6 Chemistry students who participated in the first round of the 57th International Chemistry Olympiad.

These students faced a challenging two-hour paper, applying their A-level Chemistry knowledge to unfamiliar contexts.

Since September, they have been preparing diligently, attending a weekly lunchtime club to enhance their skills. Their dedication has led to impressive results: one bronze, three silver (top third of entrants), and one gold certificate (top 8%). 🏅

The accomplishments reflect the students’ hard work, intellectual curiosity, and passion for Chemistry. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their exceptional performance and for representing Countesthorpe Academy with distinction.

Well done to all our students! 🌟👏
