We are introducing a simplified and secure way to report your child’s absence from school.

From Monday 17th November 2025, please call 0116 264 2300 and, when you reach the voicemail, leave the following details:

  • Your child’s full name and tutor group
  • The reason for their absence, and symptoms if ill.
  • The duration of the school they will miss that day (e.g. they will miss Period 1 and 2, or will be in at 10:30am, or will be absent for the whole day)

Important things to note:

  • Absences must be reported each day your child is absent.
  • Please call before 8:00am on the day of absence.
  • Please call from a number we hold on our system for you. The best way to check the contact details we hold for you is by logging into the Arbor app and under the burger menu (3-line menu) look in Profile – please update any out-of-date telephone or mobile numbers.
  • This is the ONLY accepted method of reporting absence. Emails, SMS, Arbor messages, or any other form of communication will not be accepted and will be ignored.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain accurate attendance records.

  • Tues 2nd December – Y8 v Welland Park @ Countesthorpe Academy (confirmed 3:30pm tip)
  • Thursday 4th December – Y9 v Lutterworth College @ Countesthorpe Academy (confirmed 3:30pm tip)
  • Tues 9th December – Y7 Central venue league @ Welland Park return to school 17:30
  • Weds 10th December – Y8 and 9 v Brockington @ Brockington return to school 17:00

The Academy will close at 2pm on the following dates for MAT wide training for staff:

  • 13th November 2025
  • 2nd December 2025 (this is now cancelled)
  • 13th January 2026 (replaces cancelled 2nd December 2025)
  • 12th February 2026
  • 10th March 2026
  • 21st April 2026
  • 25th June 2026

School Buses will depart at 2:10pm.

We will have six lessons as normal, with each lesson being slightly shorter than normal to allow for the early finish, meaning that your child will have the same timetabled lessons for that day.

Today, four of our incredible Stephen Lawrence Ambassadors have been invited to the House of Lords by Baroness Doreen Lawrence. They will address an audience of politicians, charities, business leaders, and representatives from Show Racism the Red Card about the Teaching to Transform Programme and the powerful impact of Stephen Lawrence Ambassadors in schools across Leicestershire.

Alongside the original ambassadors from The Winstanley School and academics from DMU Stephen Lawrence Centre, our very own Year 11 ambassador Joanna will take the stage to share her experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the programme’s success and secure support to roll it out nationally. We couldn’t be prouder of our students for championing equality and inspiring change!
