Last week, our Year 7 students took part in an exciting and inspiring Work Experience Project Day in partnership with Miles Platts, a local engineering business.
Throughout the day, students gained a fascinating insight into the world of work, learning about the many different roles that contribute to a successful business. Working with professionals from Miles Platts, students explored areas including Sales and Marketing, Design, Engineering and Manufacturing, Quality Control, Health and Safety, and Finance. They also had the opportunity to ask questions and discover the skills, qualifications and career pathways linked to each role.
In the afternoon, students put their learning into practice by working in teams to respond to a customer brief. They designed and promoted their own product ideas, considered pricing and marketing strategies, and presented their concepts to their peers.
The standard of creativity, teamwork and presentation skills was exceptionally high across the year group. A huge congratulations to the winning team from 7SBA, whose innovative design and outstanding presentation impressed the judges and stood out from a very strong field of entries.
As part of their prize, the winning team’s design will now be developed further by the Miles Platts design team, with the exciting possibility of being created using professional equipment, alongside a visit to the factory.
We are incredibly proud of all our Year 7 students for the enthusiasm, confidence and professionalism they demonstrated throughout the day.
