Year 7: Sex and Relationships Education

Year 7 Students will be following a Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) course as part of our Tutorial Programme starting on 20thMarch 2019.

The main theme, in line with government guidelines, is one of relationships and children’s growth within a secure family context.  Most of the course will take the form of discussion and questions.

The pupils will also be shown several videos.

Topics covered will be:

  • Puberty
  • Relationships
  • Media pressures and assertive behaviour

Contraception and sexually transmitted infections will be covered in year nine.

Videos and other materials can be made available in school for inspection by parents on request.

Although parents have the right to withdraw their child for all or part of the Relationships and Sex Education programme provided, other than laid down in the Science National Curriculum, this rarely happens at Countesthorpe Leysland Community College.

If you have any concerns, or would like further information, please get in touch.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs K Morris

Tutorial Coordinator
