Returning to face-to-face teaching in PE

As we return to face-to-face teaching, I wanted to write to you to update you on the changes within the PE department. During lockdown tasks for core PE were set to get students away from their screens and remain active. We are really looking forward to having students back enjoying their practical lessons.

PE lessons will begin on Monday 8th March.  Students will be required to change wearing their masks. Students need to make sure that they are changing in the same area as their tutor group. Students also need to make sure that they are changed within 15 minutes. Once changed, masks can be removed and students then make their way to the sports hall. They should sit in their tutor groups in register order.

Changing room doors will be propped open while students change. They will be locked during the lesson to ensure all students belongings are safe. After each lesson the PE department will sanitise all areas before the next group enters the changing room to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. The one-way system will remain in and out of PE.  However for the first week, the gym will be out of action as it is being used to carry out the Lateral Flow Tests.

Students will leave and enter PE via the sports hall fire exit for their outdoor lessons to keep the tunnel free for exiting the test centre.

PE kit will be required for lessons. This includes:-

  • the Countesthorpe Academy top and jumper;
  • black/navy joggers or shorts
  • a change of footwear.

If you are struggling with PE kit, then we are willing to work with parents for the rest of the year. We are happy for students to wear a plain navy or black t-shirt under their logo PE jumper. If students do not have a PE jumper then we may be able offer them one to wear for the remainder of the year, if not then a plain navy or black jumper without a hood can be worn.  If there are any issues, then please do not hesitate to contact me.

The PE timetable will be shared with students and tutors as well as displayed outside the PE department so students know where their lessons will take place.

If you have any queries about this please do not hesitate to contact me via email, nrose@clcc.college.
