Letter from Mrs C. Aitcheson – 3rd April 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Usually at the end of a term I am writing to share with you the latest edition of our college magazine and to wish everyone a restful and peaceful holiday. The current circumstances we find ourselves in have meant that normal routines have been set to aside whilst we all adapt to a new way of working, living and communicating. I think it’s fair to say that we have all found the last few weeks to be the most unusual we are likely to encounter in our lifetimes.

I would like to thank you all for the support you have given us since the closure and for the many messages we have received from you recognising the challenging circumstances in which we are all working.

As I said last week, we are here to help. It has become more apparent than ever in the last few weeks, the key role that schools play in the community. We are fully committed to ensuring that throughout this period we will continue to educate, support and most of all provide our students (and of course you as parents ) with a team of people who they (and you) can talk to should you need help and support.

Since the start of the closure, almost overnight we have asked students and staff to work in a way that is new to most, and for parents to take on the role of home schooling. All this, whilst managing your own work commitments and dealing with the additional demands and anxieties that this truly unprecedented crisis has brought with it is a challenge in itself. We are incredibly grateful for the brilliant job you are all doing in trying to balance all of this and have taken on board the really valuable feedback we have had from you. .

Over the last two weeks staff have been working on new weekly planners for students in each year group to follow which will start after the Easter break. We hope this will provide new and better routines and ways of working for everyone which include wellbeing and recreational activities as well as a focus on school work, please visit this page to learn more about this (https://www.clcc.college/college-news/home-learning-support/)

We have also today received information about Year 11 and Year 13 grading process and you can read more about this here (https://www.clcc.college/college-news/information-about-gcse-and-a-level-grades-summer-2020/).

Remember, this period of uncertainly will come to an end and much will have be learned from this moment in time. Our thoughts and best wishes are with you and your families over the Easter break.

Take care, stay safe and stay well.

Mrs C. Aitcheson and all the staff at the College
