Free School Meals Update 31st March 2020

Dear Parents/carers

You may have seen in the press this morning that the government have launched a national voucher scheme for children eligible for free school meals. This will provide the family of every eligible child with a weekly shopping voucher worth £15 to spend at supermarkets while schools are closed due to the coronavirus.

We are currently awaiting further contact from the Department for Education to enrol our school on this scheme and we plan to have this in operation for our parents by the beginning of next week, if not before.

At the moment the vouchers can be spent on food at Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose and M&S, with the Department working to get more shops to join the scheme as soon as possible.

We will contact parents of all eligible children in due course. Vouchers will be sent by an e-Code to the email address we have on file, unless parents do not have access to the internet, in which case an  eGift card can be arranged.

For parents whose circumstances may have changed, applications for free school meals can be made to Leicestershire County Council here https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/education-and-children/social-care-and-supporting-families/free-school-meals  where you can find full details of the eligibility criteria and a contact telephone number.

In the meantime students who already receive free school meals can continue to collect a lunch from either Countesthorpe Leysland Community College or any LiFE MAT school between 11:00am and 1:30pm.

If you have any queries please email us at admin@clcc.college

Yours sincerely,

Mrs C. Aitcheson
Principal
