College Closed for Year 10 Students Only – Friday 20th March 2020

Dear parents/carers

Following the Prime Minister's announcement that all schools will close at the end of the day on Friday 20th March 2020, I am writing to inform you of the decision the College has needed to make for Friday 20th March 2020.

Due to levels of staffing, students in Year 10 only should not attend College on Friday 20th March 2020.

Work for Year 10  will be set via Show My Homework for English, Maths and Science on Friday 20th March 2020. Students should check this after 9am on Friday 20th March 2020 and we expect them to be working on this at home.

Any students in Year 10 whose parents/carers work for the Emergency Services can continue to come into school and should report to the Dining Hall at the Countesthorpe site on arrival to College.

All other year groups should attend as normal and we are confident at this point we will be able to operate a normal timetable for students in Years 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 & 13. Students in these year groups who are well and able to attend should be encouraged to do so in order that we can explain what a school closure will involve.

Please note that after school clubs and detentions on Friday 20th March 2020 will be cancelled.

We are working on plans for the coming months and I will write to you tomorrow (Friday 20th March 2020) to explain in detail how the closure will work for each year group. We will also provide you with specific information about:

  • Support for vulnerable students
  • Support for students whose parents work in the emergency services or other essential roles.

At this point we have no specific detail what will replace the Year 11 and Year 13 exams. As soon as we are in a position to do so, we will provide you with all the information you need to know.

From Monday 23rd March 2020 the school will be closed for all students with the exception of vulnerable students and children of key workers.

Once again, your continued support during this unprecedented period has been very much appreciated. I would ask for your patience as we put in place plans for the coming months. Please be assured we will inform you as soon as we are in a position to do so.

Best wishes

Mrs Aitcheson
Principal
