CLCC Remembers…

Today students at CLCC remembered those who have died in conflicts across the world.

Taking part in a two minute silence at 11:00am, students were quiet, except for the “Last Post” played by Noah Barford and Freddie Pye at the Countesthorpe and Leysland sites. Students reflected on their personal connections to those who have suffered and died in armed conflicts since World War 1, and also remembered those from our local community.

Our Army Cadets also showed their respect. Dressed in full uniform, they stood to attention to represent the armed forces, and saluted our trumpet players.

During a special assembly led by Mrs Aitcheson, Principal of Countesthorpe Leysland Community College, students learnt about the origins of “Remembrance Day” and the significance of poppies in this. Representatives from our Student Leadership Team read some moving poems to those attending the assembly, and Mrs Challinor’s video was played honouring all of the members of our local community who died during various conflicts.

To finish the assembly Rev. Jane Micklethwaite talked to our students about how remembrance helps to keep alive the memory of those who have fallen, and led them in a minute of reflection.
