Awarding Winning Inspirational Countesthorpe Star Student

Emily in Year 13 has won the SLSSP’s Inspirational Young Person Award!

Emily, a HiVE Sixth Form Student at Countesthorpe Academy, successfully won the South Leicestershire School Sports Partnership’s Inspirational Young Person Award last night at their online awards ceremony.

The award, which celebrates the achievements of a young person who has helped to highlight issues affecting young people and seek to make a difference, was a tough category with several other excellent nominees.

The SLSSP said, "Emily is a very driven, socially aware and inspirational young leader who has been a fantastic student ambassador for Countesthorpe Academy throughout her time with us. She, along with her friend and co-manager of Let's Talk, has substantially grown the mentoring service, which provides support for KS3 and 4 students through sixth form mentoring. What is most impressive about Emily is how engaged she is with the issues that face young people in the world today and her desire to make a difference. Her assembly, following the murder of Sarah Everard, was thought-provoking, balanced and contained practical advice on personal safety which our students found both thought-provoking and reassuring. Emily has thrown herself into the life of our college community and will no doubt make a big impact as she heads off to university.”

We are so proud of Emily, especially as we know her determination, resilience and ability to inspire others has had such a positive affect on the rest of our school.

Well done and congratulations Emily - a Countesthorpe Star Student!
