Online Remote Learning – Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th January 2022

Positive learning experiences and pupils having the opportunities to be the best that they can be sit at the core of everything we do.

In order to make sure your child continues on their journey of success at Countesthorpe Academy, we want to inform you about our remote learning plans for Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th of January as part of our staggered start due to COVID 19 testing taking place.

The majority of lessons will be live Teams lessons. However, where a member of staff is assisting with the testing centre, independent work or pre-recorded lessons will be uploaded into your child's class Teams area. For core PE, their teachers will set them an independent PE challenge. For our parent guide on using Microsoft Teams to support your child, please use this https://bit.ly/3m6X0D2

In order to support your child's remote learning, on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th January, pupils should follow their usual school timetable, with the times of the online school day running as follows:

09:00-10:00 - Period 1
10:00-10:20 - Break
10:20-11:20 - Period 2
11:20-12:20 - Period 3
12:20-12:50 - Lunch
12:50-13:50 - Period 4
13:50-14:50 - Period 5

Where your child is due to attend school for their lateral flow test, they will not be expected to complete their work or attend their live lesson. I will be emailing all pupils, as well as adding a notification to satchel:one and a message on Teams, with reminders on how they can log into Microsoft Teams and how they can access their work or join their live lesson.

Your child is able to access Microsoft Teams and live lessons on any device that has internet access. This may include a laptop, PC, tablet, smartphone, Xbox or Playstation. On these devices, pupils can either install the Microsoft Teams desktop app, download the Microsoft Teams app or use the Microsoft Teams website.

If your child does not have access to any of the above devices to join their remote learning activities on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th January, please could you let us know by completing the form that has been sent to you via SMS/MyED message by 11pm on Tuesday 21st December 2021 so that we can arrange a loan of a school laptop for the two days. You will need to pick the device up from the Academy main reception on Tuesday 4th January 2022 - we will confirm with you if your request has been successful.

If you have any further questions regarding remote learning at Countesthorpe Academy, please contact me via the school telephone number 01162771555 or on my email address amckenzie@clcc.college.

We wish all a lovely and restful Christmas and New Year.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs McKenzie
Assistant Headteacher
