Year 10 Summative Assessment – January 2018

Dear Parent/Carer,

We have enclosed with this letter the most recent assessment information for your child along with a written report for each subject that details their strengths and areas to improve.  Please take the time to go through this report with your child and look to see what improvements can be made going forward.

As we move through Year 10, GCSE grades are a constant focus in College.  Regular tests help teachers determine how well students are doing, where intervention is needed and how to pitch the lessons.  Teachers use the information from classwork, homework and assessments to inform the currently working at grade you will see.

We appreciate that the 9-1 GCSE system is new to parents, particularly those with experience of the old A*-G grades and provide below a table of our broad expectations at this point in the course and how we would expect students to progress over the next 15 months.  Clearly, where grades being achieved are lower than in the table, these subjects should be focus areas.

GCSE Target Grade   Year 10 Term 2 Year 10 Term 3 Year 11 Term 1 Year 11 Term 2

Can I also take this opportunity to highlight and encourage you to use the following two systems: ShowMyHomework enables you to see what your child should be working on at home.  Access this via the link on the College website.  The My Ed app that is free download for your phone details attendance, achievement, behaviour and academic performance information.  Details on how to download the My Ed app are over the page.  Should you have any questions about the app, please email app@clcc.college .

Finally, I would urge you to keep your child’s reports and discuss them at home.  Comparing how well your child has progressed from the last report can be particularly effective in bringing about improvement.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs C. Aitcheson

Acting Principal
