A-Level Students: One-day theatrical make-up workshop

The Media and Film Department is planning a one-day theatrical make-up workshop on Monday 19th February 2018 with a visiting industry professional of 15 years whose previous work includes working on the 2017 film Logan with Hugh Jackman, BBC TV and Resident Evil.

This unique and enjoyable experience aims to develop students’ understanding of the important concept ‘mise-en-scene’, give them an alternative insight into future careers, deepen their skillset and portfolio for University applications and interviews as well as allowing students to bring their ideas to life! It has a direct link to students AS and A2 courses as they focus on analysing mise-en-scene as well as how it is used to represent characters and narrative themes. It heavily links with student’s coursework section of their A level which equates to 30% of their final A Level grade where students are expected to create their own mise-en-scene.

The workshop is personalised and tailored to the needs of the students based on their coursework ideas. Consequently, students will learn how to age an actor (we recognise it can be difficult to find an actor of a certain age and look to fulfil their requirements), how to provide more glamourous on screen make-up needed for magazine photoshoots and documentaries, as well as how to create various trauma wounds including stitches, stab and gun shots wounds, grazes, bruises and burns.

The cost of the workshop is £28.00 which includes a tutorial from an industry professional, personalised support and tuition, all materials needed throughout the day as well as insurance.

The price is based on 25 students attending and places will be issued on a first come first served basis. If you’d like your son/ daughter to attend this workshop then payment can be made by visiting www.parentpay.com, (if you don't see the link to pay for this item please contact the Media department immediately). If you are unable to do this, you can pay by cash/cheque at the cashier’s hatch. Unfortunately, money cannot be refunded if students cancel.

We ask that payment is made by Friday 2nd February 2018 and the completed permission slip returned to the cashier by Monday 4th February in order to offer any remaining places to students who study courses that may benefit from this experience. In the rare occasion that the remaining spaces cannot be filled the price will be subject to change or the workshop will be cancelled.

Please contact me if you have any further queries or concerns at the college number or my email address; SWhite@clcc.college

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs S White
